Membership Application Process
If you meet the criteria below, you qualify as a TLD HOLDER and may become a member of the TLDA. There are no dues at the present time, but the Board of Directors may consider such changes at any time. A TLD Holder is defined as: (taken from the current TLDA Bylaws)
"TLD HOLDER - The entity that has the right to assign rights, cancel or delegate authority for an operational TLD. The holder must be a legally recognized entity such as, but not limited to, a partnership, trust, corporation, natural person, government, cooperative. The TLD, for purposes of establishing membership must be operational and have a functioning registry. This can be demonstrated by providing two nameservers showing valid SOA records for the TLD and at least 3 functional SLDs registered under the TLD. A new TLD must fulfill the first requirement (operational) but will have 120 days to provide the registry and SLD requirements. SLDs must also show at least two nameservers that answer authoritatively for the SLDs. For the 120 period, that entity will be granted a provisional membership. A TLD holder may have only one membership regardless of the number of TLDs held by that entity. If an entity owns or controls more than 5% of the voting rights of one or more other entities with one or more TLDs, only one membership may be held by that entity or group of entities. Member, designated member or their member representative must be of the age of majority in the location of primary residence for that representative member." Full voting rights require a government issued photo ID to be on file under the non-Disclosure Agreement of the TLDA Records Committee. This may be sent by hard copy or electronically at any time after membership acceptance in order to qualify for full voting rights.
