TLDA Member Ray Fassett has a lot to be excited about - His TLD, .JOBS has just been accepted into ICANN's rootzone.

Much of the reason Ray's TLD has been picked up by ICANN has to do with his determination to move forward with it regardless of what ICANN dictated to him...

Ray is the former Treasurer of TLDA, and has served on it's Board of Directors as well. Although the TLDA does not advocate the use of the Alternate, Deprecated, ICANN Legacy system, as it is too small and only provides a fraction of the total DNS name space, the .JOBS TLD will always continue to be carried by RSCs providing DNS root services for the entire Inclusive Name Space and the added exposure of .JOBS in this yet latest RSC to load his data will ensure that it achieves critical mass for even more TLD Holders.

We wish all the best for Ray and his .JOBS TLD, and would like to impress the notion of not giving up even when ICANN tells you they're not interested.

Ray continued to build critical mass within the .JOBS zone, and as a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world's largest association devoted to human resource management with over 200,000 members, the pressure was on ICANN to pickup or get off the pot. Knowing that .JOBS was on it's way regardless of ICANN's decision to accept the TLD, it was definately a loss leader for them intially, but became a win/win situation for both .JOBS and ICANN, which has raced to eliminate most traces of .JOBS prominence prior to their giving it the nod.

It helps to have a solid business plan and vision when launching a TLD. Top notch marketing and publicity doesn't hurt either.

On the other hand, the longtime INS hopeful, Christopher Ambler's .WEB, is still on the sidelines, following their move to succumb to ICANN's pressure to divest itself of all other RSCs and the Inclusive Name Space, his .CARS TLD, and his distancing himself from the community has left his TLD a virtually forgotten orphan of yonder days.

We wish Chris luck too, but turning his back on the community was an ill-advised move in our opinion, and time has demonstrated that this as well. We don't even know if his registrants were summarily removed from his registry, as they are giving out no information about their operations. In the meantime, ICANN does continue to look at .WEB - but is entertaining the notion of going with someone else besides Image Online Designs, Inc. (IOD), which is Chris's company.

Now that they've isolated him and made him the pariah of the Inclusive Name Space, his options are extremely limited without the support from the INS community and TLDA with regards to building critical mass for his branded TLD product and service.

Getting back to Ray Fassett, well, he stayed the course and now he's a VERY happy camper

You can Visit the .JOBS registry at the same location you always have (It's not like it was going to move now - what did you think?). It's located at http://www.goto.jobs/

Cool
