From one of our very own here, member Peter Dambier developed IASON as a kind of Counter insurgency software for DNS Root servers.

According to the IASON site at Sourceforge:

"IASON is designed to analyze DNS, log files and data streams. IASON works in conjunction with a network firewall and IDS (Intrusion Detection System) software to block attacks while allowing legitimate requests to reach a domain name server." 		255

DNSCurve uses high-speed high-security elliptic-curve cryptography to drastically improve every dimension of DNS security:

* DNSCurve encrypts all DNS packets.

* DNSCurve cryptographically authenticates all DNS responses, eliminating forged DNS packets.
